PATRICK’s work as an actor/director spans more than fifty years. He holds a Ph.D. degree in theatre from the University of Colorado, and he is Professor Emeritus in the Theatre Department at Iowa State University. During his thirty-four year tenure at Iowa State, Gouran directed more than sixty plays; works ranging from The Three Penny Opera to How I Learned to Drive. He also served as Chair of Region V-South for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival during that time. Gouran’s artistic accomplishments are not limited to the academic world, however. One of Patrick’s great pleasures was directing Hal Holbrook in a piece which was presented at the Des Moines Civic Center. And his portrayal of Nag in RTI’s production of Endgame was lauded by critics and audiences. Pactrick has directed the RTI/Terrace Hill production of Blood Read Poe and RTI/Salisbury House production of Twelfth Night. He can be seen in the feature film The Final Season, starring Sean Astin, Powers Boothe, and Tom Arnold.
