RICHARD is a veteran stage actor and opera singer. One of the founding members of RTI, Mr. Richards – a native Iowan – has performed many major roles in local, community theater productions at the Des Moines Playhouse and the Drama Workshop including Michael in I Do! I Do! – a role he performed professionally at the Columbian Theater in Kansas; ½ of the citizens of Tuna, Texas, in Greater Tuna and A Tuna Christmas – roles he performed professionally in Kansas and with RTI; FDR in Annie – a role he performed professionally in Kansas and at Charlie’s Showplace; Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar; The Narrator in Blood Brothers; Michael in Falsettos; Emile De Becque in South Pacific; Gayord Ravenal in Showboat; Moonface Martin in Anything Goes; and many others. He has been a principal performer with Des Moines Metro Opera, Nashville (TN) Opera Company, and the Pensacola (Florida) Opera Company. His performance in the role of Horrace Tabor in the American opera, The Ballad of Baby Doe, was broadcast live on Public Television. He has performed both modern and classical opera to critical acclaim with notices in several publications including the Des Moines Register, the Kansas City Star, and in Opera News, an international publication of the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Mr. Richards is a trial attorney employed with the United States Department of Justice.
